Watch the full Fox Sports 1 broadcast of the Ryder Cup: ‘It was a complete disaster’
Fox Sports commentator Brian Stannard, who was one of the first commentators to report on the golf tournament’s chaos, described it as a “complete disaster.”
“The Ryder Cup is supposed to be a social event, and it’s not a social thing,” Stannards said.
“It’s a competition.
People were having fun, the Ryder Cups are supposed to make people laugh.
That’s not what happened.”
Stannings also described the event as a circus, adding: “It was an absolute circus.”
Fox Sports, which was originally scheduled to broadcast the tournament but has been moved to Saturday mornings in the U.S., was able to salvage a decent number of interviews from the event, including Ryder Cup chief executive Andy Enright and U.K. golfer Jamie Palmer, who appeared alongside Enright on Sunday.
The Fox Sports channel, which is owned by Fox Sports North America, reported on Sunday that Enright was suspended for the Ryder tournament, which he described as a challenge to himself.
The network also reported that Palmer was suspended from the tournament and the U-18 Ryder Championships.
The tournament, originally slated for Nov. 18-21, has been postponed until next week.
The event’s schedule will be released in the coming days.
